Polarization is adjusted for the signpost.
“ADJUSTING POLARIZATION”
Azimuth scan begins.
“SCANNING AZIMUTH”
Starts out in fast until it sees a RF value above “noise_floor to threshold”. Switches to slow
and starts looking for a lock.
4) after scanning through a lock condition, the dish is returned to the
place of highest RF (with lock)
- will go 3 degrees beyond last indication of lock to make sure we didn’t see a lock from a
sidelobe.
“RETURNING TO LOCK PEAK”
After returning, lock is confirmed. If no lock scan will start again.
“NO LOCK FOUND – CONTINUING SCAN”
5) a local peak up of RF is performed in order to place the dish as well as
possible on the signpost satellite. This peak up requires high resolution
sensors (such as pulses) on the azimuth and elevation axes.
“PERFORMING PEAK UP”
NOTE: this peak up will not occur if the positive identification feature is “enabled without
lock” in the DVB ID configuration screen (3.3.1.1.x).
6) a "positive identification" of the signpost is then confirmed. Using the
PRODIG, this positive id is done by comparing the orbital slot value parsed
from the bottom line of the PRODIG with a string that had been placed in the
signpost list (along with lon/frequency/symbol rate/FEC).
“CHECKING FOR POSITIVE ID”
7a) if a positive id of the signpost is not confirmed, the scan for that
signpost will be completed in case we had come across a satellite using the
same freq/symbol rate/FEC combination. If no positive id happens, then a
scan looking for the next signpost from the list sorted in step #2 will be
done.
